Which airline at YYC received platinum safety status?
YYC’s United Airlines group recently completed the Platinum Safety Excellence Program, which is the highest safety achievement within their company and recognizes YYC.
I’m pleased to announce that Esther Price, Station Manager, United Airlines, and her YYC team recently completed the highest level in safety excellence that United Airlines gives to their airport teams – the United Airlines Platinum Safety Excellence Program. Only five other airports have achieved this level: Buenos Aires (AEP), Madrid (MAD), Manchester (MAN), Puerto Vallarta (PVR) and Tokyo (HND).
“Congratulations to Esther and her team. We are pleased to share that United also recognized The Calgary Airport Authority, along with their valued YYC partners: Airport Terminal Services, Gate Gourmet and Menzies Aviation, for their role in attaining such a significant award,” says Dale Flette, Manager, Safety. “Completing this program demonstrates the commitment to safety that YYC’s United Airlines team brings every day above and below the wing.”
Each airline has their own way of recognizing safety excellence within their company. For United Airlines, airport teams can achieve silver, gold and platinum after they’ve reached certain milestones, and followed safety processes and procedures on a consistent basis.
Running a safe and efficient operation is always at the forefront of every organization. The well-being of our employees, partners and guests is paramount and vital to the success of our community. Recognizing achievements in a safety program is a great way to help build a proactive and positive safety culture.
