CASW Kickoff – Worker Safety
Know safety, no pain
Canadian Airport Safety Week (CASW) is an opportunity for all airport employees to come together and focus attention on key areas of industry best-practices. Today’s topic for CASW is all about your wellbeing, and we’re kicking off the week with valuable information on managing worker fatigue, arriving to work fit for duty, the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE), working safely during winter operations and more.
Ensuring the skies above and below, are safe and secure at all times means concentrating not only on modern machinery and technology but also ensuring workers are at their best physically and mentally when arriving to work and throughout their workday.
Here are the top three things you should be aware of:
- Fit for Duty – Ensuring you are aware of your workplace policies that are in place to keep you safe on the job, such as your company’s alcohol or drug policy.
- Fatigue Management – Ensuring you are well-rested and are aware of the techniques to manage fatigue when it arises.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – Wearing proper equipment to protect yourself when working in a hazardous environment.
What we do and how we do things at work, will have an impact on both ourselves and our operations. Working safely, and paying attention to how we do things, is the first step in taking care of our colleagues and our guests.
