WestJet Spins its Way to Victory at Wednesday’s YYC Spin-a-thon!
WestJet, Air Canada and The Calgary Airport Authority went head to head in the third annual YYC Spin-a-thon. Our mission was to raise money and awareness for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, while competing to see who could spin the farthest distance in eight hours. WestJet’s tropical-themed team (say that three times fast!) took an early lead and was able to maintain that lead until the very end! Although Air Canada had a slow start, by mid-day they had surpassed The Calgary Airport Authority, and in the last hour they gave WestJet another reason to sweat. Despite a strong finish, The Calgary Airport Authority came in third place and Air Canada fought for a well-deserved second place!
Overall the event raised $1025.11for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and together we biked 722.4km (the equivalent of biking from Calgary to Butte, Montana)!
While Team YYC didn't have a Spin-a-thon team, you can still register for the Big Bike happening on July 25! The Team YYC Big Bike team will be composed of people from all across the airport community! Register HERE.
