Mandatory ArriveCAN app use for travellers into Canada

Summary: Starting Nov. 21, all guests arriving from an international destination must use the ArriveCAN app.

The use of the ArriveCAN app was previously recommended by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) to help speed up the border process. But starting on Nov. 21, it’s now a mandatory requirement.

This means international guests must use the ArriveCAN app or website prior to speaking to a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officer to submit the following:

  • Travel and contact information
  • COVID-19 quarantine plan
  • COVID-19 symptom self-assessments

Under special circumstances, CBSA will accept paper forms for guests who:

  • don’t have access to smartphones and computers; and/or
  • haven’t had someone submit their plan on the app or website on their behalf

We’re working closely with our airline partners to ensure they’re communicating this change prior to boarding and in-flight prior to arriving. In the moment, Customer Care Ambassadors and CBSA will implement and help share this new requirement.
