Interim Pre-Board Screening (PBS) B Open Monday
Summary: New Pre-Board Screening (PBS) opens in concourse B to improve passenger wait times during peak periods
To elevate the guest experience and reduce wait times in the domestic terminal, The Calgary Airport Authority and Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) will open its new location during peak times:
- When: Sunday to Friday, 7 to 11 a.m.
- What: Two regular lanes and one for priority/families/accessible guests
- Who: Guests departing from B gates
“We know guests have had long waits at peak times to be screened for domestic flights, and this additional location will help increase capacity and make travel faster and easier,” said Chris Miles, Vice President Operations.
When PBS-B is closed, guests can choose to use PBS-A and C if they see that wait times at the other checkpoint are significantly shorter.
There is no Trusted Travellers (NEXUS holders) lanes at this checkpoint. Trusted Travellers wishing to use dedicated lanes can continue using PBS A & C.
The additional screening location will increase the capacity to screen by three lines representing a 30 per cent capacity increase. PBS-B is an interim solution while the airport and CATSA look at long-term solutions to consolidate domestic screening into one location in the future. The interim PBS-B will reduce the volume at PBS-A & C, but guests may still experience occasional wait time at all locations.
