CASW day three - Airport security
and a FREE BBQ
Today, we’re focusing on security by highlighting some key actions we can take to spot and report potential security threats.
Since 9/11 airports have heavily invested in security systems, but machines are not fool proof and human detection of possible safety breaches are just as important. Training of YYC airport staff in protocols and procedures are meticulously carried out and revamped regularly in order to safely connect YYC’s nearly 17 million guests to their destinations around the world.
Here’s a few tips to keep security top of mind:
- Prevent piggybacking: Ensure no one follows you through a security controlled area without swiping a RAIC.
- Monitor suspicious persons, vehicles, bags and activities: If you witness a suspicious activity report it immediately by calling 1300.
- Ask for Identification: You are encouraged to ask for ID if you suspect someone in a Restricted Area does not have a work-related purpose (need and right) to be there.
