NEW Changes to Airline Check-ins that Airport Staff Should Know

The airport is in a constant state of motion: aircraft, people, bags; and our construction activity is no exception. After more than 600 days and 500,000 construction hours, YYC is on the final stretch of completing Canada’s most technologically-advanced baggage handling system and enhanced check-in area. The first airline check-in relocation started with Air Canada on July 24, when it moved back to its former space across from doors 9-11.

In preparation for Air Canada’s go-live, the Baggage team had been working extremely hard to get the enhanced check-in area and baggage system ready for operation. After hundreds of tests, 1,500 bags and months of planning, the launch of Phase 1 was a success.

Yesterday Flair Air, Air North, Air Transat and Summit Air moved their domestic check-ins across from Door 8. Next up is WestJet, which will move from its current location (doors 1-3) to the temporary space between doors 5-7; while it’s check-in gets a makeover.

As a member of the airport community, it’s important that we’re all aware of the upcoming changes so we can better serve the guests travelling through our airport.
