Travel Alberta Meets Summer Travelers

It’s that time of year again when the birds are chirping, the sun is beaming and tourism is booming. Summer is finally here and for the third year in a row, so are the Travel Alberta staff  to assist guests in making their visits to Calgary more memorable.

This year, they go live from May 18 to September 3. With their mobile pop-up kiosks and brochures, two employees will be out every day of the week on the Arrivals level across from the Domestic InfoCentre, the International InfoCentre or at the car rental centre from 10 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. and from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Never missing the Hainan arrival, they will move locations amongst the three spots based on the arrivals flight schedule to catch guests seeking tourism expertise. As we all know, Alberta has plenty of beautiful natural sights and history attracting travelers from across the globe. Banff, Canmore, Drumheller, Icefields parkway, Jasper, Kananaskis, Lake Louise, Waterton are some of the many places visitors to Canada are crossing oceans to enjoy and share with friends and family.

Rich with experience and knowledge, Selina, Bonnie, Janet and their supervisor Mary Anne are eager to start. Selina was born in Xi’an, central-northwest of China and moved to Toronto when she was 12. She now studies at the U of C with a focus on International Studies majoring in East Asian studies. She is also one of our Hainan volunteers, helping Chinese travelers with wayfinding and next steps in the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) bag hall. Bonnie, moved to Canada at the age of 13 from Guangzhou, one of the biggest cities in China. She speaks Catonese, English, Mandarin and a little Japanese. She came from Vancouver to Calgary by herself to study – she is also another Hainan volunteer. Janet speaks Cantonese, English and Mandarin and hails from Hong Kong. She has airport knowledge from her days with EuroTravel. Mary Anne, a White Hat Volunteer, grew up in Victoria and has travelled all over North America. She has a passion for photography and brings years of airport and tourism experience to the table.

A warm welcome to the team!
