WestJet announces new service between YYC and Japan, and expansion of service to Europe
Today’s announcement by WestJet introduces new Dreamliner 787 routes from YYC, including the launch of its first route to Asia, connecting Calgary and Tokyo, Japan. Along with this inaugural service to Japan, WestJet is increasing connectivity between Western Canada and Europe, with new service from YYC to Barcelona, Spain and Edinburgh, Scotland, and increased frequencies to its existing European routes.

Improved access to more and new destinations – for both supply chain and visitors – enhances guest and partner satisfaction and helps secure the economic viability of interconnected transportation systems and services. Today’s announcement builds upon the October 2022 partnership agreement between the WestJet Group and the Government of Alberta, which included a commitment by WestJet to make YYC Calgary International Airport its single global hub airport.
