Apron II Vehicle Service Road Repair and Widening

Summary: From Aug. 10 to Sept.1, we’re rerouting airfield traffic to accommodate much-needed maintenance.

Our infrastructure team completed the design in-house and engaged a general contractor to do the work. A complete removal of the existing substructure and asphalt is planned as well as the reconstruction of the road to higher specifications. It will result in widening the Vehicle Service Road (VSR) that connects the East Deicing Apron to Apron II prior to winter and deicing operation. As we have limited capital funds, this work is considered critical infrastructure maintenance that affects safety and security. The VSR is highly used and can see up to 200 heavy deicing truck movements per day.

Construction will occur in a phased approach to limit the impacts to tenants and operators accessing and exiting the airfield from the south. Flaggers, escorts and traffic control are in place. Guests and staff in-terminal will not be impacted by this work.
