YYC was the busiest airport in Canada Tuesday
You may have seen this JetTip report circulate on social media this week showing YYC had the most departing flights in Canada on April 21.
JetTip is a smart flight alert service for aviation enthusiasts and reported we ranked 29th in North America and 1st in Canada with 97 departures, ahead of both YYZ and YVR.
Here’s an estimated breakdown of the departing flights comparing to a much busier day in early March:
General Aviation Flights include private, corporate, helicopter and medevac flights.
While this is one positive story among uncertainty in the industry, it’s important to note it’s just one day and it doesn’t factor in how many passengers are on these aircraft, or that many of YYC’s flights are currently being serviced by smaller aircraft than are flying in YYZ or YVR.
We do not have specific load factor information but can say on an average day we have approximately 24,500 guests departing YYC each day. Currently with the dramatic decline due to pandemic, we have an average of 500 guests leaving daily. On April 21, we were slightly above average with approximately 775 departing passengers.
