#WhiteHatWednesday: Christina Colyn
YYC Music Program artist
Each #WhiteHatWednesday, we will highlight one of the awesome members of Team YYC. This week, read on to learn more about Christina Colyn, YYC Music Program artist.
The Calgary Airport Authority launched its expanded music program last year, welcoming our guests with musical performances from local artists throughout the airport.
Christina Colyn, a mom of three, is at the airport 3-5 days a week sharing her talent and loves being a part of the program.
“I really enjoy coming here and connecting with the people”, she says. “Whatever people are feeling, music speaks to them and this motivates me because every person matters.”
Describing her style as “roots-based”, Christina thoughtfully prepares what she sings depending on who is listening and the time of day. With upwards of 45 songs being sung in her two-hour shift, she alternates between the classics, top 40 and original work, taking requests when possible.
“Many pieces I choose to sing are timelessly written”, she muses, “and I love the moments when these songs connect with people to enhance their travelling experience.”
