Pre-board screening B to open Oct. 28
Another Pre-Board Screening (PBS) location will open in our Domestic Terminal on Oct. 28 at Concourse B. The addition of three screening lanes (two regular and one priority) and the redeployment of pre-board screening resources enables us to meet our increasing demand of departing flights at peak times.
PBS B will be staffed by Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) during peak times from Sunday to Friday from 7 to 11 a.m. screening approximately 400 guests per hour. We will evaluate these hours after opening to ensure they're best serving our guests. When PBS B is not available, guests will be directed to PBS A and C.
“This new location will increase the capacity of CATSA to screen our domestic guests by over 20 per cent,” says Chris Miles, VP Operations. “This location will focus on screening guests departing from B gates to reduce demand on our locations creating shorter waits for all guests.”
CATSA, through Garda, provides staffing at all PBS locations to ensure the safety and security of guests. We are working closely with the CATSA team to provide clear wayfinding and messaging from the airlines to their guests. Trusted travellers wishing to use dedicated lanes will continue to use PBS A and C, as B will not have this service.
In our long-term vision, the PBS B interim location will be integrated into a centralized screening area but no final decisions have been made.
The interim PBS B will reduce the volume at PBS A & C, but guests may still experience occasional wait time at all locations. We have been working with CATSA to help communicate wait times to guests both at the terminal and online. Stay tuned for more details are we approach this important milestone in improving guest experiences at YYC.
