Meet YYC’s Student Squad
With higher traffic volumes during the summer months, YYC’s Student Squad is here to help make travel easier for guests. The Student Squad will engage guests while they wait in security screening lines during peaks hours and provide information on what can and cannot be taken through security. They’ll also help entertain guests with interactive games.
You may have already noticed a gelato bike buzzing around the concourse. The students will sell gelato from Fiasco to guests. Proceeds from the gelato sales will go to #NotInMyCity, an organization partnering with The Authority to help end human trafficking.
When the Student Squad is not selling gelato they will be interacting with guests in waiting areas and rearrange seating as-needed to provide guests with optimal comfort.
“Summer is YYC’s busiest travel time and the airport can be very busy. The Student Squad not only helps make travel seamless and more enjoyable for our guests, they’re testing new ideas and initiatives that will deliver a remarkable customer experience,” says Michael Hayward, Vice President, Marketing & Guest Experience.
Of the nine students, five are related to YYC staff and one student is a White Hat volunteer. To apply for the positions, students were required to create a video submission sharing why they would be the best fit for the squad. The Student Squad will be operating here at YYC until the end of August.
