#WhiteHatWednesday: Marjorie
Each #WhiteHatWednesday, we will highlight one of the awesome members of Team YYC. This week, read on to learn more about Marjorie, Pipe Band Major, Calgary International Airport Pipe Band.
You would think being a mom, teacher and volunteer White Hatter here at the airport would have kept Marjorie busy enough, but no. In her mid-40’s she took on the arduous task of learning to play the bagpipes and rose to her current position of Pipe Major of the Calgary International Airport Pipe band 7 years ago.
The band, which boasts 9 members celebrates their 20 year anniversary this year and Marjorie has been along for the ride the entire time.
Contrary to popular belief, Marjorie says, “bagpipers don’t need big lungs, but a musical sense and fast fingers.” As the Pipe Major, she writes music, teaches pipers and leads the band.
Happy Anniversary Marjorie!
