Let’s PULL Together a Great Team of Volunteers!
The Orbis Plane Pull is less one month away and we need to PULL together a team of volunteers. Feel free to sign up your friends and family to volunteer as well.
Orbis is an international non-profit organization that provides the world’s only Flying Eye Hospital. For more than three-and-a-half decades, The Flying Eye Hospital has been a call to action for better eye care around the world. Wherever it lands, it raises awareness, creates change and rallies supporters - local governments, global organizations, philanthropists, and the general public - to join the global fight to end avoidable blindness.
We have the opportunity to assist with this worthwhile event by volunteering in a number of fun and entertaining ways!
When: Saturday, June 22, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: FedEx Ramp, Calgary International Airport, 24 Aero Dr NE, Calgary, AB T2E 8Z9
Why: Because 80 per cent of people who face blindness suffer conditions that could be prevented, treated or cured and 90 per cent of all visually impaired people — 253 million people — live in places where it can be difficult to get the right treatment. Supporting the Orbis plane pull means helping people get access to lifesaving treatment.
What: The following volunteer opportunities promise a busy day full of fun:
- Registration - First point of contact with attendees and signing them into the event
- Pull Zone – Zone with the 757 pull plane where teams get ready to pull the plane
- Fun Zone/Sports Zone – Inflatables for attendees to play on and entertain themselves throughout the day
- Games Zone – Café area with tents and chairs for people to hang out/eat in, as well as play some fun lawn games
- Teddy Bear Eye Hospital – Colouring station for kids and opportunity for them to learn more about taking care of their eye health
All volunteers will receive a t-shirt and lunch!
Volunteers will also have an opportunity to pull the plane at the end of the day.
