AHS Measles alert

YYC wishes to alert you to a health concern regarding a potential measles exposure within our community. We have become aware that an individual diagnosed with measles was present at YYC between 12:45 and 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 23, 2023, having arrived from YVR.

Measles is highly contagious and can spread through the air via respiratory droplets. Familiarizing oneself with the symptoms is crucial, which may include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a characteristic rash. Individuals who suspect exposure and develop these symptoms should promptly seek medical attention.

In accordance with Alberta Health Guidelines, as a precaution, we recommend that all individuals who were present around the gate 50 area and baggage carousel 9 between the times 12:45 and 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 23, 2023, monitor themselves for symptoms over the next 21 days, which is the typical incubation period. If symptoms arise, it is imperative to contact a healthcare provider immediately, and advise your manager.
