YYC’s changing retail will bring Calgary hospitality to life
YYC’s retail strategy is evolving to better support elevated airport experiences that are relevant for today’s guest. Our focus is enhancing services in post-security locations — where guests spend most of their time.
Since the opening of the International Terminal in 2016, passenger flows have changed. With those changes many of our pre-security locations in the Domestic Terminal are longer viable, which has resulted in some closures, most notably in Banff Hall.
As part of that, YYC will says farewell to some good friends:
- The Boxer Shoppe closed down on December 7
- Chick-fil-A - closes down on December 29
- Skyway Liquor (International Arrivals) closes on December 31- Will be replaced by another concept
- Swiss Chalet closes on December 31- Will be replaced by another concept
“YYC guest behaviour has changed tremendously over the past few years, which means we need to develop concepts that better align with today’s needs,” said Tim Barnes, Director, Commercial & Corporate Services. “We’re thankful for the long-standing relationships we’ve had with the partners that are leaving, and to the service they’ve provided to guests.”
“Moving forward, our Commercial and Retail team are focused on bringing to life Calgary’s rich scene of hospitality at YYC,” added Barnes.
To recognize our appreciation for these long-standing partners we will be announcing special offers during the week of December 17.
Editor's note - There have been two recent changes to closure dates: The Boxer Shoppe closed on December 7; Chick-fil-A will now close on December 29.
