Mark your Calendars: A Summer of Team YYC Connections

Working at YYC Calgary International Airport (or any airport) is unique in a number of ways. From our bustling environment, to hourly interactions with guests from around the globe, to playing a key role in the stories of millions who travel through our airport for work, travel, play. One of the other things that makes your experience working at YYC are the many moments we share banding together as a community. Whether we’re celebrating a season, reason or milestone; fundraising for an important service in the community we serve; or supporting a fellow airport colleague – just as we recently did at for John van Besouw, Senior Director of Operations for HMSHost, who is currently battling ALS – we’re our own little uniquely interconnected community.

So as we gear up for our busy summer season and Stampede festivities, we wanted to let you know about a few of the upcoming events where we can look forward to spending time with our fellow Team YYC.

1. Team YYC Stampede BBQ
When:
July 6, 10:45 to 1 p.m.
Where: In front of the Delta Calgary Airport Hotel, Departures Level.

Yeeaw! At the annual Team YYC Stampede BBQ there will plenty of great grub, games and hundreds of prizes up for grabs. All proceeds from the BBQ will be donated to the Not in My City campaign— so join us and welcome the beginning of Stampede 2018, while supporting a worthwhile cause. We can’t wait kickoff Calgary’s largest tourist attraction together!

2. YYC Big Bike Showdown Race & BBQ in Support of the Heart and Stroke
When:
July 25, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; Race from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Departures Roadway, BBQ in front of the Delta

WestJet, Air Canada, The Airport Authority or Team YYC – who’s going to take the cake this year? For the second year in a row, we invite the airport community to come out and cheer for your favourite team and celebrate the winners from each category at the BBQ hosted by HMS and North Caribou. We make no promises on cake, but you can expect to enjoy your choice of mouth-watering burgers, sausages, vegetarian options and sides. As this is a charity event, lunch is a minimum $5 donation to the Heart&Stroke.
