An Update on Vaccination Requirements at YYC
Summary: Effective June 20, employees, contractors, Team YYC-invited visitors and media no longer need to be vaccinated or carry proof of vaccination.
The Calgary Airport Authority is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for its employees, and quality, safe, and secure services for our guests.
While supporting vaccination during the pandemic was very important for the health and safety of our Crew and guests, we are pleased that the Government of Canada announced it has suspended some vaccination requirements, including those that apply to federally regulated transportation workers. As a result, The Calgary Airport Authority will be suspending our Mandatory Vaccination policy as of June 20.
For recruitment and new hires, while they were previously required to comply with the policy, proof of vaccination will not be required going forward. However, if infection rates increase again, and/or if there are any changes from the federal government, the Mandatory Vaccination policy may be reinstated.
The suspension of this policy also means that:
- All employees and contractors at YYC Calgary International Airport will no longer need to be vaccinated or show proof of vaccination to work onsite or be granted access at screening checkpoints. This includes employees, contractors, visitors and those seeking to enter the restricted area using a temporary pass.
- All restricted area identity card (RAIC) applications no longer require proof of vaccination or valid approved exemption.
- Anyone on-site at YYC in a work-related capacity who may be interacting with guests or YYC employees, such as media in public areas, no longer need to be vaccinated or provide proof of vaccination upon request.
As always, the health and safety of all our crew and guests is of the utmost importance. The wearing of masks in the public areas of the terminal, pre and post-security is still required.
