#YYCStrong: Virtual Volunteers—staying connected while at home
Whether it’s feelings of isolation or workforce changes, economic uncertainty or family stress, the recent weeks have been heavy and hard. In these difficult times, we hope to bring you stories of kindness and commitment, and messages of hope and resilience. Together, our legacy will be ensuring that YYC weathers this storm and emerges stronger and better.
For the first time in 29 years there are no White Hat Volunteers roaming the terminal. They have collectively contributed over 1.2 million hours of service to our guests and community, and for the near future, that number will remain the same. While they may not be connecting with guests, that won’t stop them from connecting with each other. Sheena Denscombe, one of our volunteers, took it upon herself to teach the others how to video conference so they could stay connected.
In addition to video chatting, the White Hat Volunteer community has been busy crafting, quilting, building and knitting. How have you been staying connected with your friends, family and co-workers?
Have you heard of any YYC Crew or Team YYC who have displayed exceptional commitment to preventing the spread of COVID-19, or have demonstrated what it looks like to spread kindness instead of fear? Help us share positive stories of kindness, commitment and resilience!
Share your stories with us, or better yet—share them on social! Tell the world how we as an airport are doing our best to keep things running and keep things safe. Tag @Fly_YYC and use #YYCStrong.
