#WhiteHatWednesday: Sharon

White Hat Volunteer

Each #WhiteHatWednesday, we will highlight one of the awesome members of Team YYC. This week, read on to learn more about Sharon, White Hat Volunteer, nominated by a guest.

Sharon, a White Hat Volunteer for seven years, loves meeting new people and is committed to giving guests a compassionate, positive experience. She thrives in challenging situations, so when Joanne, a connecting passenger was in a bind, Sharon was there to help!

Read Joanne's story nominating Sharon for #WhiteHatWednesday:

"My WestJet flight from Toronto to Calgary was delayed. It was to have departed Pearson at 7 a.m., but was late to the point where I couldn't make my connection to Lethbride. The next flight was 7:20 p.m., which would have caused me to miss an important family celebration.

My sister in Lethbridge contacted your service [White Hat Volunteer Program], as she wanted to drive up to get me, but I was afraid I might actually make my connection, in which case she would be en route without me knowing. The White Hat Team immediately responded...Sharon gave my sister her personal cell number, and proceeded to meet me at my arrival gate, holding a sign with my name on it.

My stress level disappeared! Sharon reassured me and told me to use her cell to call my sister, who was in fact en route. Sharon stayed with me, taking me to WestJet guest services, then baggage collection, then Tim Horton's which was the arranged pick up location.

I was able to attend the family event on time, due in large part to Sharon and the White Hat Team. I so appreciate all those involved, with a special hug to Sharon. I will sing your praises to anyone who is headed your way...it is an awesome service."
