See Something, Say Something

Ensuring a safe airport operation is everyone’s responsibility, whether you are on the airfield, working groundside, or inside the terminal, each of us has a role to play in keeping YYC safe.

Safety reporting is critical for ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone at YYC and is an essential component of YYC’s risk management system. When you See Something that may be a safety concern, you must Say Something so we can Do Something.

Identifying safety risks and hazards to protect YYC Crew, Team YYC, and our guests: Safety reporting identifies potential risks and hazards and helps us prevent accidents and incidents from occurring. All employees are responsible to report hazards, injuries, and safety incidents. You can report in one of the following ways:

  • For emergencies call 911
  • For immediate concerns: Call the IOC - 403-735-1300 x.5
  • Tell your leader as soon as possible
  • Report through the incident management system (currently Q-Pulse)
  • Send an email to Safety@yyc.com

Improving safety: By analyzing safety reports, patterns, and trends, a root cause(s) can be identified and corrective actions can be developed and implemented. The goal is to reduce the number of potential hazards and the risk of an incident or injury.

Regulatory compliance: All workers have the right to participate and improve workplace safety by reporting. Safety reporting is a key component to ensure a safe work environment through compliance with regulations and standards. Failure to comply with legislation can result in fines, penalties, and other legal consequences. When an injury occurs, the Airport Authority is federally mandated to report any incident that takes an employee away from regular duties.

Building trust and credibility: Ongoing safety reporting and corrective actions demonstrates the employer’s commitment to transparency and accountability, with the goal to ensure a safe work environment and build trust and credibility with our employees and stakeholders.
